What is neurofeedback?

It is a method, via you learn to steer your brain with the computer as a compass. In other words it is a way to influence brainwaves in a pre-established direction, using the computer as a feedback device. In the training you simply learn how to change the activity of your brain. The computer gives you "feedback" - information about the neurophysiological activity in your brain. So if you change something, for example you are becoming more relaxed, the encephalograph will measure and the computer will show you the changes in your brainwave picture. The electrical activity of your nerve cells is measured by an encephalograph like temperature is measured by a thermometer, so during the training no electricity from outside is "sent" to your brain, as one might be afraid of.

Why is this method so little known?

To do neurofeedback well, you need complicated and expensive equipment, a long learning process as well as a quite specific and varied expertise. It's hardly possible to find all these qualifications in one person. In any case our team is multidisciplinary, each of us is responsible for different aspects of the treatment process and above all we have to consult together frequently.
